East Riding Archaeological Society

Our society is for everyone interested in the archaeology of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

For over 50 years we have been working to bring together amateur archaeologists, professionals in a range of fields and all those interested in our area’s past and the preservation of our heritage.

We currently have over 250 members. Our aim to promote interest in archaeology through events, fieldwork, publications and lectures.

ERAS leads and organise activities for those interested in archaeology in our area. Experts lead our monthly walks. During the winter months, local and visiting speakers give talks as part of our winter lecture series.

Lectures usually start at 7:30pm and are held in the Wilberforece Building, Hull University, Cottingham Road, Hull. There is an entrance fee for non-members of £1.

Additional special events are planned every year to allow members to get to know each other. We also run our own excavations, research and survey projects which members are encouraged to become involved in.

Field studies meetings are usually at 7:30pm on the first Wednesday of each month at St Nicholas Community Centre, Holmechurch Lane, Beverley.

ERAS membership is open to all with no upper or lower age limit.

Membership is renewable each year on January 1st and can be paid by direct debit. New members joining after 1st September are entitled to full membership until the end of the following year.
