HLF/IfA Workplace Learning Bursary funded training placement
in Historic Building Recording and Surveying (ref. WYJS:096)
£15,839 for a 12 month contract, start date January 2012
Applications are invited for a highly motivated individual to take up a training placement funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund through the IfA Workplace Learning Bursary scheme and hosted by Archaeological Services WYAS.
This will provide an opportunity to gain a broad range of experience in the recording and interpretation of historic buildings and surface archaeological remains, including training in surveying techniques and equipment, photographic recording, and the production of drawings using AutoCAD and Adobe Illustrator software.
The successful candidate will be involved with a range of projects, and will also be responsible for undertaking all stages of a building recording project, under guidance, applying the skills developed over the course of the placement. This will provide the placement holder with experience of the full life cycle of a project, from producing Project Designs and Risk Assessments through fieldwork to final reporting
Previous building recording or surveying experience is not essential, but the placement holder should have excellent analytical, written and communication skills and should be educated to a degree level in an archaeological or related subject.
