Founded in June 1947, this year marks the 75th anniversary of the Scarborough Archaeological and Historical Society. The talk will give a brief overview of the history of the Society, look at some of the projects in the pipeline to commemorate the anniversary and conclude with a roundup of recent fieldwork. The Society field team is very active at the moment with a number of projects from the Old Town of Scarborough to the private grounds of Aldby Park on the River Derwent near the village of Buttercrambe. The talk will bring the story of these sites up to date and look at fieldwork planned for later this year.

Hannah and her partner David Griffiths have both been part of the Great British Dig team responsible for identifying the finds from this highly successful television series currently showing on More 4.  Hannah promises to tell us about the stories which didn’t make it to our screens.
