Ruth Goodman, star of the BBC TV's Edwardian Farm, will be the special guest at the North Yorkshire County Record Office's History Day 2011, to be held at the Hambleton Forum in Northallerton on Saturday 26 March.

Following the success of last year's event, the History Day will see groups and societies from all parts of North Yorkshire mounting displays of their work. Experts representing a wide range of community and voluntary activity in local and family history across the county will be on hand to offer help and advice. Everyone with an interest in North Yorkshire's history will be welcome to attend - admission to the local and family history fair which runs all day, from 10am until 3.30pm, is just £1.

As part of the event, at 1pm, Ruth Goodman will give a talk entitled 'The Cycle of Life', looking at the key events in ordinary people's lives in the past. To reserve a ticket (£5 if booked in advance, £7 on the day) telephone 01609 777585 or e-mail the Record Office:archives@northyorks.gov.uk
