13.5.11–15.5.11
Annual weekend recording conference of the Yorkshire Vernacular Buildings Study Group (YVBSG). This is an attractive Yorkshire Dales village on the main A65 road twelve miles from Skipton and four miles from the historic market town of Settle. To the north the landscape rises to the fells, moors and picturesque valleys of the Dales; to the south are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley which, in turn, sweep upward to the magnificent wilderness of Bowland. These conferences are aimed both at beginners wishing to learn how to record vernacular buildings and people with more experience seeking to increase their knowledge and understanding. Non-residential school, accommodation suggestions by request. For more information contact David Cook at YVBSG Chair, 23 North End, Sedgefield, Stockton-on-Tees TS21 2AZ, tel 01740 620098, email chairman@yvbsg.org.uk, web www.yvbsg.org.uk/events.htm. The cost is £70 with meals, 25GBP without.
