The Chapel House Wood Landscape Project

County: North Yorkshire

Sat 16–Sun 31 July

The latest results from this long-term project in Upper Wharfedale will be on display.

Analysis of the complex multi-period landscape reveals Medieval land-swapping and a Roman Iron Age agricultural estate.

Evidence from the excavation is starting to provide an exciting new insight into the mixed farming economy of the Yorkshire Dales around 2,000 years ago, with a growing body of evidence for advanced metalworking.

Location: The Leisure Centre, Long Ashes Park, Threshfield. The Long Ashes Leisure Park is located on the B6160 one and a quarter miles north of Threshfield village alongside the road running to Kilnsey at grid reference SD 079 647
