Southburn Archaeological Museum Open Day

Open Day at Southburn Archaeological Museum which holds a large collection of finds from this area of the Yorkshire Wolds dating from neolithic times to early 20th century. Also on display is a reconstruction of an Iron Age Chariot from the Wetwang Chariot Burial made for the BBC television series “Meet The Ancestors” and on loan courtesy of the British Museum.

The museum also offers a wide range of “Hands- On” activities for adults and children including spinning, weaving on a replica warp weighted loom, grinding corm on a replica bee-hive quern stone, mosaics and games. A chance to handle real artefacts and investigate them using archaeological techniques.Free – Donations Welcome.
