Mowbray School and Bedale Archaeology Week

26 July – 30 July 09.00-16.30

The purpose of this archaeological investigation is to promote the awareness of the Historical Environment to the different and diverse communities within Bedale. We will investigate a field towards the rear of Mowbray School on Masham Road.

Activity Schedule:

Monday: Set up trenches day. Public visits are closed for today due to the operation of heavy machinery.
Tuesday: The archaeological investigation will begin today with opportunities: to excavate in 3 trenches, learn how to survey, and learn how to draw and map features. You will be working in 4 sessions and have the opportunity to a bit of everything or just one activity. 
Wednesday: Same as Above 
Thursday: Same as Above

Session 1: 9am - 10.30am
Session 2: 10.45am - 12pm
Session 3: 1pm - 2.30pm
Session 4: 3pm—4.30pm

Friday: Open Day 11am – 3pm
Saturday: Open Day 11am – 3pm

Refreshments will be provided for break times, but please bring packed lunches, suitable clothing and footwear and sun/rain protection.

Please book if you plan on only coming to one session.
