Kate Dennet of East Riding Archaeological Society reports that one of ERAS's founder members, Derek Brooks has just died, aged 80.  Derek excavated at Walkington Wold and many other sites in the 1960s and 1970s. In his 70s Derek was still very active and interested and, as a keen aeromodeller, devised a method of taking aerial photos of sites, very successfully, from a radio controlled model aircraft. He also ran local history and archaeology classes and clubs in his area, contributing to a series of books on the history of Swanland.

His funeral is on Friday 17th June at 3pm at Haltemprice crematorium, near Willerby, East Yorkshire. (Family flowers only)
