Thursday 7 October, St Williams College, York

The CBA and the Church Buildings Council are holding a joint event in York to encourage and support local stewardship of ancient church sites and ruins.

The CBC has recently published its guidance, Ruined Churches: Problem or Opportunity on caring for these vulnerable sites, which will be launched at the event. The aim of the day is to allow interested parties and potential partners to look at the issues and options, hear about some examples of successful projects, and explore the possibilities for next steps in terms of practical assistance, joint working and further advice.

The day will be of interest to diocesan officers and parishes, to heritage and wildlife trusts, local archaeological and amenity groups and to heritage professionals managing such sites. Further details are available and a provisional programme .

The event is sponsored by the Society for Church Archaeology.
