Volunteers are invited to join the excavations at Brows Pasture, Chapel-le-Dale, Ingleton starting on Monday 3 September and running every day to end on Saturday 15 September 2012.

A minimum commitment of 3 days is requested, and that there will be an administrative cost of £10 per person regardless of how many days are committed.

Two possible medieval farmsteads are the focus of this excavation, each consisting of several rectangular structures, showing as wall lines or turf banks, and associated field banks. The excavation is part of a wider academic survey of a local landscape with medieval and post-medieval elements. Excavation will be focused on identifying the internal morphology and function of the main structures, and on seeking dating evidence to tie in with documentary evidence in the immediate area from the early 14th century.
