CBA National careers videos, November 2020

Posted on 11/Nov/2020 Under Uncategorised

These videos are taken from the Council for British Archaeology’s November 2020 newsletter:

We have released three new videos with support from the Royal Archaeological Institute examining different pathways into a career in archaeology, whether you’re just starting out or you’re considering a career change. There’s a leaflet too which you can download here. We are currently developing a careers hub and we would love to hear more from people with an inspiring story to share – if that’s you, get in touch.

The first film looks at the apprenticeships route. Phil Pollard, Heritage Apprenticeships Manager at Historic England explains the options currently available and we find out about the experiences of two young apprentices. Click the image below to be directed to the YouTube video

Our second film looks at the university route, with Dr Penny Bickle, Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of York giving her views and current students offering their reflections. Click the image below to be directed to the YouTube video.

Our final film looks at different pathways people have taken into archaeology and some out of the ordinary jobs within the sector – in case you thought archaeology was all about digging! Interviewees include Bethany Watrous of Experience Heritage, who specialise in immersive and interactive heritage displays, digital models, web and mobile apps. Click the image below to be directed to the YouTube video.
