Selected Rememberance Sunday events
A number of local affiliated societies are hosting events this weekend to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. A selection of these are highlighted below:
WW1 Memorial event – Saturday 10 November from 3pm, Owlerton Memorial Hall, Forbes Road, Walkley. Live music from WW1, poetry readings, stories of local soldiers, refreshments. Free entry.
Sheffield’s Great War – Sunday 11 November 2018, Sheffield City Hall (Memorial Hall). Talks by six speakers on aspects of Sheffield and the First World War – industry, hospitals, rural Sheffield, women’s work, Zeppelin raids and the Sheffield Pals. https://sheffieldsgreatwar.
Of course these are not the only events, and many villages, towns and cities across our region will have their own services, parades and other events in line with Remembrance Sunday.
